Summer’s Calling: Ventnor Beach Vibes Despite Moody Skies
A Cloudy Prelude: But Hope Springs Eternal
VENTNOR, N.J. – So, the start to Memorial Day weekend wasn’t the sun-drenched affair you might dream about. But, hey, we’re resilient! While the skies above Ventnor indulged in a moody gray palette, the promise of brighter days beckoned.
The Defiant Beachgoers
Henry Lewkowicz isn’t about to let a little weather dampen his spirits. “It’s very relaxing and you can meditate as you walk,” he said as he braved a three-mile walk on the beach Friday evening. Just half an hour earlier, it rained on his parade. But in true New Yorker-style, he shrugged it off. Now, it’s the wind and cool temps that have him steering clear of the ocean.
Memorial Day Weekend: Still a Go
Despite less-than-perfect conditions, Brett Segleman and Abbey Taub aren’t deterred. “We’re going to find a way to enjoy the weekend,” Segleman assured. The couple planned to swap Friday night’s chill for some boardwalk running, biking, and perhaps a pedal up to some local pickleball courts. A plunge into the ocean? Maybe not yet. “No cold plunge here,” Segleman confirmed.
Meanwhile, a kid and a dog dared to splash along the shoreline. Kids, right? Not ones to be boxed in by a little inclement weather!
Shore Business: Booming Regardless
Rain or shine, places like Ventnor Social keep the vibe alive. With live music, a bustling arcade, and plenty of eats, they’ve got it covered. Seven-year-old Nora was living her best life amidst visiting family and friends. “It’s always a good time. No matter the weather,” emphasized Marivette Hinds. Her family plans some home sprucing – quintessential beach house life.
Ready for Beach Debut
Considering tomorrow might really kick things off, her son can’t wait to feel that sand between his toes. “I think tomorrow, regardless of the temperature, we’re just going to go out there,” she stated with hopeful anticipation.
And just like that, rain or shine, Ventnor embraces the weekend with open arms, ready to lean into whatever the ‘unofficial’ start of summer brings.
