A New Era of Hospitality Education
[UTA](https://theshorthorn.com) is rolling out the red carpet for the hospitality industry. Come fall 2025, this Texas university is debuting two fresh, snazzy degree programs under its College of Business banner. Picture this: a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management. These programs focus on hospitality leadership roles, from food and beverage to hotels, theme parks, and even casinos.

A Deep Dive into Degrees
Michael Nalley, the go-to guy for hospitality management at UTA, lays out the playbook: a “wider dive” with the Bachelor of Business Administration, packing in more courses. Think it’s just school? Nope. Students can get their hands dirty with genuine experience and even snag some industry credentials before tossing those graduation caps.
“The programs really try to instill a hospitality vibe,” says Nalley. As for the numbers, the Bachelor of Business Administration requires 120 credit hours, featuring five core classes, 36 hours of hospitality electives, and 300 work hours. On the flip side, the Bachelor of Science brings in nine core classes, 48 hours of electives, and a beefier 500 working hours.
| Program | Credit Hours | Core Classes | Hospitality Electives | Working Hours |
|———|————–|————–|———————-|—————|
| Bachelor of Business Administration | 120 | 5 | 36 | 300 |
| Bachelor of Science | 120 | 9 | 48 | 500 |
On the Rise: The Hospitality Industry
This isn’t just fluff—there’s muscle behind the hustle. Hospitality’s marked as the fastest-growing global industry for the next decade, claims [Michael Nalley](https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-nalley/). Guess what? One out of five new jobs is in hospitality. And ever since COVID-19 exited stage left, folks are clamoring to hit vacation spots. This surge means there’s a call for managers with a solid grip on the game.
Course Variety and Double-Majoring
Choice-wise, students can sink their teeth into 15 hospitality courses like restaurant operations or lodging management. But heads up—only two intro classes are on tap for this fall. And talk about multidimensional: you can double major in hospitality with a Bachelor of Business Administration if you’re eyeing real estate, marketing, or entrepreneurship.
“Oh, this isn’t just about slogging through classes,” Nalley adds. “We want to create a true culture of hospitality here.”
