A New Yorker’s Take on the SBA Loan Boost
Double the Dollars for Small Manufacturers
You know how it goes in New York—always thinking big, never settling for less. That’s why the recent boost to the SBA loan limits is a game changer. The U.S. Small Business Administration just got the House green light to up the loan limit for small manufacturers from $5 million to $10 million. This push, known as H.R. 3174 or the Made in America Manufacturing Finance Act, comes courtesy of Congressman Roger Williams, head honcho at the House Committee on Small Business.
Rebuilding the Backbone of U.S. Industry
According to Kelly Loeffler, the big boss lady at SBA, American industry is on the rebound, thanks in no small part to some savvy moves by President Trump. Historic tax cuts, deregulation, and decent trade deals have set the stage, supported by a mind-blowing $20 trillion in investment to back things made at home. The idea is to get those 98% of U.S. manufacturers who are small businesses rolling in the dough they need to up their game in this home-grown economy.
Made in America: More Than Just a Slogan
The Act aligns with the wider Made in America Manufacturing Initiative. Launched this year, the effort is all about cutting red tape, boosting capital access, and spotlighting our existing manufacturing heroes. By supporting these small manufacturers, they’re fueling the industrial engine, securing the idea that Main Street is where the magic happens.
New Moves and Sweet Deals
What else is shaking? SBA rolled out a Make Onshoring Great Again Portal, aiming to bring production back to our shores. More recently, we saw the launch of the 7(a) Manufacturer’s Access to Revolving Credit (MARC) Loan Program, the first of its kind supporting the little guys in manufacturing. For Fiscal Year 2026, SBA is waiving most upfront fees for small manufacturers (NAICS 31-33). Who doesn’t love a good deal, right?
Keeping the Momentum on Main Street
Chairman Williams chimed in, appreciating the teamwork from both sides of Congress and acknowledging that these small manufacturers are the backbone of our country’s industrial might. With this legislation, they’re pushing the “America First” agenda, essentially making sure that Main Street stays the heart and soul of American innovation.
