SUNY Brockport Students’ Educational Journey to Letchworth State Park

A Day Out in the Great Outdoors

International Students Visit Letchworth State Park

In a genuinely New York style, when you talk about spicing up life with a bit of adventure, you’ve got to mention the recent expedition. The School of Business and Management’s (SOBAM) international students, in spirit both brave and hungry for new experiences, ventured out to Letchworth State Park on October 20. They weren’t just there to smell the roses—or the trees, in this case. No sir, these folks soaked in the unrivaled natural beauty, exploring the famed canyon and those postcard-perfect waterfalls.

Going Beyond the Scenic Vistas

Every New Yorker knows food is love. And after all that hiking and picture-taking, you gotta replenish that energy. So, what did they do? They hit up Charcoal Corral over in Silver Lake, NY. Imagine finishing your day by chowing down on a hearty meal while blending the art of food, camaraderie, and a side of good-natured fun. Now, that’s how you seal a day of adventure!

A New Yorker’s Nature Playground

That’s not all; let’s dive into why Letchworth State Park is more than just a backdrop for selfies. Often labeled "The Grand Canyon of the East," this place is pure magic. Encompassing a rugged 14,427 acres, this stunning spectacle sprawls across western New York. It’s a fantastic spot for hikers and nature lovers, offering trails aplenty and wildlife that’s sure to make any city-dwellers’ hustle and bustle seem a world away. You’ll feel like you’ve walked into a storybook setting with waterfalls cascading down through the thick canopy of trees.

Walking in Los WNY

To the international students, the hikes were more than just a physical activity. They became lessons in Western New York’s amazing topography and ecological diversity. It’s where diverse cultures met breathtaking landscapes, creating an unforgettable tapestry woven with vibrant hues of autumn leaves and melodious bird songs.

All About Team Spirit

What’s even more delightful was the sense of community fostered amongst SOBAM’s burgeoning global scholars. As any seasoned New Yorker or resident can tell you, sharing adventures forms connections faster than anything else. And through these shared moments in nature, friendships blossomed.
