Experiencing India: A Journey Beyond Work
An Invitation Worth Crossing Oceans For
Visiting India was always on my bucket list. But this wasn’t your typical tourist visit. Nope, it was for a wedding of one of my direct reports, Koushik. When he invited my wife and me, it wasn’t just an invitation—it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So, we packed our bags and said yes to discovering India.
Embracing Cisco’s People-First Culture
At Cisco, we’re all about people first. I’ve always believed success isn’t just in the tasks or growth charts. It’s about the human connections that power those achievements. Every milestone hides the dedication and passion of real people. If you know me, you know that tasks are secondary. For years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with incredible, diverse folks.
A Celebration Like No Other
The wedding was nothing short of spectacular. Imagine vibrant colors, warm traditions, and joy all around. As Koushik’s manager, attending meant a lot to him and his family. They expressed their honor and appreciation. That genuine bond we shared? It turned the miles between us into inches. And the food? My daughter would call it “slay!”
Beyond the Celebrations: Discovering India
Our Indian adventure didn’t stop at the wedding. We explored the iconic India Gate, marveled at beautiful temples, and yes, indulged in some shopping. My wife had a particular fondness for jewelry—those pure silver bangles were a hit for her and our girls.
Meeting the Team
Another perk of the trip was meeting Ravikiran, a team member based in India. This personal experience became deeply memorable, enriching our connection. The traditions, hospitality, and moments with colleagues made this more than just a trip—they turned it into heartfelt memories.
The Magic of Connection
At Cisco, we’re about more than just innovation and customer impact. What sets us apart is our dedication to valuing people. This experience was living proof of our culture. Traveling far to support a personal milestone showed that our relationships go beyond work.
The Power of People
These experiences embody why Cisco’s people-first philosophy is profound. They remind me how crucial genuine connections are. Our relationships foster respect, commitment, and appreciation. At Cisco, connecting isn’t just part of what we do; it fuels our entire journey.
